Do you remember how in PCGamer they were coming up with all these ideas, and in the end it culminated in GW2?

Perhaps they were looking to add different playable races into GW but could not fit it into the existing framework of the game and keep it balanced. Therefore, that could have been one of the major reasons why they scrapped Campaign 4 in favor of a whole new game.

Your right, however, for those like us that have already got GW and will be getting EotN and linking, then it will be just like adding another chapter, especially as to link GW2 characters to GW1 you need to use the same name...

To me, it has the feeling of being, although a new game, a good follow on and a true stand alone chapter

They said in the PC Gamer article that you will be able to choose which GW1 name to link a GW2 character to for Hall of Monuments. The two linked characters do not have to be the same name, but your GW1 names will be reserved should you choose to reuse them.

Well, apart from all the other interviews, i haven't read teh PC Gamer interview (It's not out here in our PC Zone until may 29th) so thanks for letting me know..

However, even better, but my point still stands that if you link your characters through teh hall of monuments, it may aswell be another chapter, just with a new game engine

I think you call this rage-stupidity or something of that nature... but I'm no expert.

Link or never happened
It was like "anything is posible in GW" not "There will be other playable races in GW".

I'm quite happy with the human-only concept for Guild Wars, to be honest. The different professions make up for the loss of playable races. And because of balance issues, all races would have to have the same stats, so the difference would be only cosmetic.

I keep reading comments about expansions every 6 months. Factions and Nightfall are technically NOT expansions unless you already own one or two of the other Guild Wars games, only then does it become an expansion. And if you wanna get more technical You would have to have started from Prophencies in order for Factions and Nightfall to be played as expansion.

Anyway, so when ArenaNet put these games out they HAD to introduce new players to the world of Guild Wars with new professions to keep from it being more of the same.

Eye of the North is actually going to be a true expansion that focuses more on the story to bring everything and everyone together, including the Charr. I suspect that the ending of Eye of the North we will see a threat far greater than the Charr, hence the reason why they will be playable among other new races in Guild Wars 2.

It's my job, and this kind of thing makes me miserable on the job. When that happens, men die!

This thread has spiraled off the first point, and we don't really need another thread discussing EoTN and GW2, especially one that isn't even organized towards it.
